Why here, why now

Nothing is listed in Windsor–Essex yet. That is the whole reason for this page.

We started in Sarnia-Lambton and have been working down the 401. Windsor–Essex begins the way every marketplace begins — empty. Whoever lists first decides what everybody else can find here.

The county

Seven towns, one borrowing radius.

LaSalle and Tecumseh sit on the city’s edge. Amherstburg, Essex, Kingsville and Leamington spread south and east. Driveways and detached garages, nearly all of it a short drive from whoever needs it.

Trailers, pressure washers, ladders, yard equipment. Ordinary garage contents.

Pressure washers in spring, trailers all summer, ladders in the fall. List over the winter and you are ready when the season turns.

As heard on Blackburn Media — “Don’t buy it, rent it.”

Lending to someone you have not met is the part people stall on. Here is how it works.

Questions, answered

Windsor–Essex FAQ

The essentials before you sign up.

What if I need the item myself?
Your own plans always come first. Set a weekly availability schedule so hand-offs happen on your time, and block out any dates you need the gear yourself — while a date’s blocked, nobody can request the item. You approve every booking too, so nothing goes anywhere without your okay.
How much does it cost, and how much do I keep?
Listing is free. Next-Door Rental charges a 12% service fee, and standard payment processing takes about 6% — so you keep roughly 80% of every booking. No hidden fees.
What if my gear gets damaged?
You document condition with photos at check-in and check-out, and you can require a security deposit on any item. Our optional Damage Waiver applies to eligible damage or theft, up to $10,000. See waiver terms →
How and when do I get paid?
Payments run through Stripe. The renter pays upfront when they book, and your share deposits straight to the bank account you connect — no cash changing hands, no invoicing, and nothing to chase afterwards.
What can I list?
If a neighbour nearby could use it, it belongs here. Around Windsor–Essex that usually means utility and dump trailers, pressure washers, lawn and garden equipment, ladders and scaffolding, generators, power tools, and party and event gear — plus the occasional piece of contractor equipment. If it’s yours and safe to rent, listing it is free.
There is nothing listed in Windsor–Essex yet — why list now?
Because the first listings are the ones people find. A marketplace with nothing in it gets no searches; one with twenty good items starts getting them. Listing now costs nothing and commits you to nothing — you set the price, you set the dates, and you approve every booking before anything is confirmed. We will help you get your first items photographed and priced.
How far will people travel to borrow something?
That is up to you. You agree the pick-up spot with the renter in the app before a booking is confirmed, so nobody commits to a drive they did not want. In a county this spread out most people stay with the towns they already drive to — Windsor, LaSalle and Tecumseh in one direction, Amherstburg, Essex, Kingsville and Leamington in the other. Pick-up and return are both recorded with geo-tagged photos.
Where does Next-Door Rental operate?
Southwestern Ontario. Sarnia-Lambton is where we started, London is under way, and Windsor–Essex is opening now — which is why the first listings here matter. Sign up and we’ll help you get your first items listed.
